WHAT WILL I DO ON A TOUR?

Multi-day Safari Tours are tailored to you interests but typically involve a combination of the following; tracking of wildlife (rhinos, tigers, wild elephants, sloth bears, etc.), bird watching and hiking through the jungle, rafting the Karnali River, jeep safari, dolphin watching, visiting the crocodile breeding center, experiencing the culture and way of life of the local village populations.

WHAT METHOD OF TRAVEL IS THE BEST?

Multi-day walking safaris offer the best wildlife opportunities. We favor walking as it is quiet and environmentally friendly. Also, the greater the length of the safari, the more you can get off the beaten path.

However, due to the richness of wildlife in Chitwan National Park, all methods of travel offer terrific opportunities to experience the local wildlife.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT?

The tourist season for Chitwan National Park encompasses the cooler winter season and lasts from October to April. In late January, local villagers harvest long grasses, which enables better wildlife viewing . Also, between September and November, and February and April, the presence of a number of migratory bird species offers incredible bird watching opportunities.

HOW MUCH IS THE PARK ENTRY FEE?

Park entry fees are NPR 2000 (~US$20), NPR 1000 (~US$10) for SAARC nationals and NPR 150 for Nepalease per person per day.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

For a Multi-day Safari Tour, we recommend you bring the following:

  • Camera!
  • Insect repellent
  • Hat and sun protection
  • Flashlight
  • Binocular
  • Casual and comfortable clothes which are of a dark colour (green, dark, brown) or which matches with jungle.
  • Shoes that is comfortable to walk in
  • In winter (November to February) warm weather clothing (e.g. jacket) is necessary. In the rainy season (July to September) rainwear is necessary.
  • Toiletries
  • Money for food and lodging.

We will bring binoculars for you to use if you don’t have one. Food and bedding will be arranged through the providers of accommodation.

WHAT TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION IS PROVIDED?

The quality of accommodation will be in accordance with your preference. We can arrange homestays, deluxe resorts and anything in between. Please note, however, that in some of the regions of the park and surrounds, accommodation choices are limited. Feel free to contact us for more specific information.

WHAT WILL BE THE COST OF THIS TRIP?

Jungle safaris are all done as a package tour, the price depends upon the size of the groups and the number of days you will stay. The price includes all activities mentioned in the itinerary, accommodation, transfers and all meals during your jungle visit. We can provide you with a quote when you decide your length of stay and size of your group.

DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM GROUP SIZE?

There is no minimum group size. Costs for the Multi-day Safari Tours will be higher (on a per person basis) for single travelers or small groups but are still extremely affordable.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?

For the Walking Tour, if you can make it to the national park, you will be able to complete the tour. The Multi-day Safari Tours can be tailored to your fitness, ranging from physically demanding (long distances covered on foot) to easy (jeep).

ARE THE SAFARIS SAFE?

Security and safety are our highest concern, however there are risks associated with any jungle safari that you should consider before booking. The wildlife is wild, unpredictable and dangerous. Our tour guides are experienced experts who always seek to minimise risks, yet an element of risk, inherent in any activity conducted in close proximity to wildlife, remains.

DO I NEED TO BOOK THE TOUR IN ADVANCE?

No, It is not necessary to book the tour in advance reservation. The short Tours are conducted daily and Multi-day Safari Tours can be arranged on short notice. However, we especially recommend advance bookings if you have any particular requirements (dietary, etc.) or interests (bird-watching, ethnobotany, etc.) So we can arrange the best trip possible for you.
